UPDATE: X1000 Forums

Link: http://x1000forums.gotdns.com

I have decided to put my forum into full swing. I don't believe that the other one will ever come back and people have started to find my forum. I only have 4 real users right now, but I have started writing up some stuff anyway. I figure at worst case, it will be a good reference for myself. Hopefully other people will join in for the fun. I'm waiting to see what will happen.

Well, sadly the site is not back up yet. From the looks of things, it may never be. This is very sad indeed as the community is still out there somewhere, just lost from each other. I would really like to get that back up, even if it meant hosting it on my server or paying to have it hosted. I don't quite know what the cababilities of my server/internet connection so I'm a little shaky on that. I wish I could get in contact with some of the previous members and try to build from there. It was a good run we had on the forum and I guess it had to come to an end. I think I've learned almost all that I need to anyway and hopefully other resources will pop up in the future.

UPDATE: X1000 Forums

Link: http://www.x1000forums.com

According to the main page of X1000 Forums, the site will be back up by June 22. During my quest to find out what happened to the site, I e-mailed the admin (Ned) from hpnotebookforums.com.

Quote from Ned at hpnotebookforums.com:

From what I know, the forum was hacked by a disgruntled member and all posts/records were deleted and the database corrupted. At last check, the ISP's backup had happened after the board was already hacked and they deleted their previous backup. Also, the Admin's private backup was corrupted - and all he had was a very old (as in 1 year old) backup from when he switched servers last.

This is very disappointing to say the least, I only hope that people will put forth the effort to rebuild what we once had. Even though this model of laptop is discontinued, it still has a lot of life in it. We will see in the upcoming days what happens.

New Site

I have started a new forum for users of Compaq/HP x1000/zt3000/nx7000 notebooks. This is due to the fact that the previous forum seems to be out of commission and I felt like there should be some place for those notebook users to go, especially me.

UPDATE: New information here

This is a photo of the Compaq X1000 Notebook similar to my own.

I finished building the computer for my dad's boss just a few minutes ago, so that's another thing down. I still have to install all of the software on it and make sure that it all works properly, but I should be able to accomplish that tonight when my girlfriend is off to the movies. I much enjoy building computers, especially when they are for myself.

The final note for this entry is that I don't really feel well right now. I woke up in the middle of the night with a splitting headache and though it has subsided a bit, it has been lingering over me all day. I really wish that it would just go away. I'm not sure if this is related, but my leg has been twitching almost uncontrollably. It's getting really annoying even as I sit here writing. It's just a constant annoyance that I hope will eventually subside.

It's still me, just in a more blog-like form...
